News You Can Use

My good friends Rich and Vinnie owners of Filetto’s Restaurant located at 297 Clay Pitts Road in East Northport just opened a new restaurant out east in Miller called Fusilli at 691 Route 25A in Miller Place. If the food is half as good as it is at Filetto’s it should be a winner! Try it out I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Question From The Booth

Dear Mr. Hill or should I say Trade Show Coach:

I receive your newsletter, and I find it very informative. Your business associates offer many difference services. Right now I am asking my Vice President of Sales to consider a new graphics or even a new booth. Do you have any recommendations? I have gone to other web sites of trade show consultants and they have many different manufacturers’ of trade show booth lists but you don’t, how come?

John B. Sales Manager,
New York City

Dear John:
If you have read my newsletters you should know that I don’t sell Booths, Graphics or Tag Line but focus on the areas where most exhibitors fail that is the Pre-Show, Show and Post Show efforts.

I have a number of booth manufacturers listed on my web site: Mike Benti, Dynamic Displays Tel 631-471-9800 in Ronkonkoma, NY

John Clancy, Expo Advantage USA Tel: 631-273-2310 in Hauppauge, NY

Bob Watson, Skyline New York Tel. 631-586-9400 in Hauppauge

I have done seminars or done training for these booth manufacturers. I know them and respect them as business people and manufacturers of quality products. You will be pleased by the attention to detail and service you get from anyone of them.

Continued trade show success

I have gotten more than a few calls regarding eBay. Asking if they could buy used trade shows booths on eBay. Since I did not know much about this site I went to an expert who is a member of one of my networking groups, Mr. Frank A. Renna who owns and operates Auction Wave of Sayville, NY

The next meeting of the Marketing Group is on Tuesday, July 7th 2009 at 6:00PM. If you want to talk with professionals and see networking the way it should be then stop at the meeting at John Harvard’s you will not be disappointed.

Wednesday, June 3, 2009 LI Connect sponsored a benefit for Grace at Irish Times Pub in Holbrook it was well attended, and Jan and the LI Connect team did a great job!

Friday, June 12, 2009 the PhD students of the Bioscience Industry Program at Stony Brook had a graduation party at Stony Brook’s NYC office. I was invited, along with Dr. Lorrence Green. Dr. Green is a Course Director and I’m one of the guest lecturers. It was a most enjoyable evening. I also received a group picture signed by all of the students. This will definitely be hung up on the wall in my office.

Saturday June 13, 2009 my daughter Ellen took me to the book signing of Lidia Matticchio Bastianich latest cook book at the Best Bargain Books in Centereach, NY. Over 550 people waiting patiently many for over 4 hours to see Lidia, it was worth the wait. She spoke for over 20 minutes, and you could tell she spoke from her heart. As some of you know one of my hobbies is cooking, and I do a lot of baking as well. We also had our picture taken with Lidia when she signed the cook book Ellen brought me for Father’s Day.

I have been involved with this group for over five years. The spark plug that makes it all happen for LI works is Lisa M. Stahs-Lorenc, Director of Community Relations. I have known her for many years, and she has always been someone to make things happen.

On Friday, June 19, 2009 I did a Power Hour with PIEmatrix, a company located in Burlington VT. They make Process and Project management simple. SLASH YOUR ADVERTISING BUDGET BY 50%

You should take your current budget you have for advertising and cut it in half. Take the other half, and use it on other marketing strategies you don’t currently employ.

This has the net effect of significantly improving your marketing efforts without increasing your budget at all! In many cases, businesses overspend on ineffective advertising campaigns simply because they don’t know what else to do.  By freeing up cash to explore more effective strategies, you not only control your budget but can significantly increase your sales. Try this and let me know how it worked. Send all questions on this or other marketing strategies to jmangione@prstore.com
